Made in South Africa
I have to admit I'm not a big fan of throwing things away, even though we have moved around the world more times than I care to remember, I feel something is not rubbish until it can be used no more! Which is why I'm a little smitten with South African brand RE create who leave nothing to waste. They have cleverly found the cutest ways to re-purpose old suitcases, broken scales and other household objects no longer fit for the job. I remember seeing one of their delightful suitcase seats in a magazine a good few years ago and thinking they were onto a winner! So it was utter joy when I stumbled into their store in Woodstock, Cape Town, they were even kind enough to let me take these photos so I could share their cleverness with you all!

If you have a treasured peace lying around the house that you would love to see RE created, why not get in contact with these guys and see what new life they can breath into it for you..

ZANA
I was delighted to stumble across this lovely space within Salt circle and find it open, I'm usually peeking through their windows on a Saturday trying to see all their vibrant prints and get a sense of what they create during the working week. Thankfully they decided to open their studio doors to the public on a Saturday and I was able to step inside and have a good look around.
For some time now I've been daydreaming of opening a studio/retail space for Nadinoo and seeing how successfully Zana harmoniously combined the two is wonderfully assuring. I love getting a glimpse into other designers work spaces (especially while they work) seeing sewing machines, cutting tables and finished products piled high is all incredibly motivating. Even the warm welcome you receive from the designers as you enter makes you feel your not intruding, only admiring what they create!

World of Birds
With only a few weeks left in Cape Town we have been trying to make our way to the few places we have yet to see. We had promised to take Lula to the world of Birds, only a 15 minute drive from our home but for one reason or another had never made it.. So this week we trotted off down the road to see ourselves some feathery friends. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it took me by surprise how vast this place is... Set in the middle of Hout bay it felt like we had landed in a tropical rainforest. There was not a type of bird we didn't see flying over our heads and yet we only made it round a third of the sanctuary before closing time.
The outfit
I felt very at home in my Paint by numbers playsuit, camouflaging into my tropical surroundings with ease. The weather is still very very hot here so a light weight cotton playsuit or dress is the natural choice to keep me cool. I have been enjoying adding a few colourful accessories to my outfits, feels like the right thing to do while I'm in Africa. People are really not shy about wearing bright eye catching colours in bold prints, it's quite refreshing to not be the only one.

SEA POINT PROMENADE
Not much of an adventure but still one of my favourite things to do in sunny Cape Town. Having lived in Mouille Point for quite some time last year I was fortunate to have the sea on my doorstep. A walk along the sea front was the easiest way to clear my head and calm down a tearful little Lula. Everything seems much clearer when your looking out into the horizon being soothed by the sound of the waves and breathing in that salty sea air. The promonade stretches on for a good few miles so it's easy to keep walking and walking... getting lost in your thoughts while busy Sea Point life goes by.

THE OUTFIT
These days you are likely to find me wearing a simple Summer dress like our Rain drop or Art Class dress, both an evolution of the Pixie Goes Sailing silhouette but I find this version much easier to style and always flattering (even after a big meal). I've fallen back in love with jewellery the past few months and started collecting some lovely pieces from a few South African designers. Have a look at Dear Rae if you like dainty rings and bracelets, there are quite a few I have my eye on..
What Nadinoo style are you favouring this season?

Botanical Gardens of Kirstenbosch
One of the first places we visited and fell in love with when moving to Cape Town was the Botanical Gardens in Kirstenbosch. I know very little about plants but even a novice like me can appreciate that there is some pretty special stuff growing in this beautiful landscape. I don't think we will ever find a more enchanting place to lay a blanket and play with our little one.
